Myself
I was born in Miami, Arizona and grew up in Albuquerque, NM. I
married young and have lived everywhere from New York to Hawaii
and many places in-between. Phil and I have been married over 25
years now and we have three sons. The first was born in Hawaii,
the second in New York and the third was born in Kansas. (One
from each end of the country to the west and to the east and one
right in the middle.)
When Ben went to pre-school I went back to college. I received
an Applied Science degree from St. Phillip's in San Antonio,
Texas and passed the CAP exam for Medical Laboratory Technician
in August of 1990. I worked at Lovelace Medical Center for 7
years and enjoy working in the lab. Since we moved to North
Carolina (almost a year ago) I have not worked outside the home.
It has been a time to recuperate from raising teenagers, work on
the house, raise pups, and plant a garden.
- Ice Skating
- I love watching ice-skating. Having grown up in New
Mexico I have never been on ice skates myself but love
the beauty and grace of the ice skaters! I particularly
enjoy pair skating and ice dance!
- Samoyeds
- The Samoyed is truly the "Christmas Spirit" dog!
The first dog we had with the children was a Sammy
because we knew that they are good with children. Our
Sammy even helped our second son learn to walk and was
frequently a small boy pillow. This breed has so much
love to give and with good grooming are the loveliest dog
ever! They are the
- only sled dog who was also a herd dog, a unique
combination.
- UPDATE: We now have a
wonderful Samoyed puppy of our own! You can see him here. We hope to be showing him soon
so watch for updates on his progress. His sister
Avalanche's Crown Victoria is already winning and we
expect to see good reports from his other siblings soon.

- Arabians
- I grew up with a love of horses and got my first pony
when I was nine years old. I fell in love with the
Arabian after reading Marguerite Henry's King of the
Wind. After many years and further study I met Razonn
Janae, known to her friends as Lady. She is a 3/4 Arabian
mare that has been mine for 12 years. Arabians are
beautiful and are very people oriented! They enjoy a
close relationship with their people and are very
pleasant to be around.
- UPDATE: My dear Lady
died from colic on May 7, 1999. It has left a great hole
as she was so very special to me. I look forward to
seeing her at the Rainbow Bridge!

- Gardening
- This year we are finally trying the carpet garden! I read
an excellent book about it several years ago but had not
had the time to try it out! We put down the indoor/outdoor
carpet on Easter Sunday and planted tomatoes, peppers (hot
and bell), watermelons, lettuce, cauliflower and brussel
sprouts. I am really looking forward to having a garden
and hopefully a low maintenance one!
- Animal Rescue
- There are still so many dogs and cats without a loving
home! We recently fostered a beautiful lab puppy (Ashley) and I plan to stay involved
in rescue work. We have 4 dogs of our own now and it
makes it a little more complicated to take in foster
animals. Each of our dogs is a testament to animals that
need loving homes! You can see our guys here.
- Home Improvements
- We are currently replacing all the carpet in our home
with ceramic tile or wood flooring. It has been an
adventure learning how to do this ourselves but is coming
along as we have time to work on it. The master bedroom
was the first room we did. (Bandit loves the nice cool
tile to sleep on!) We are using a white tile with a rose
brown swirl in it. The living room has wood parquet in a
light color. Having no carpet is nice where it is warm
most of the time, the soil is mostly sand, and there are
always at least 4 dogs coming in and going out.
