Ashley's Story

[colored paws]

We were already in the process of housetraining two puppies (Snoopy and Bandit) when my husband called with news of a 12 week old black Labrador puppy that desperately needed a place to stay while a home was found for her. I was hesitant but am always a pushover for a pup in need. A law enforcement officer had gotten Ashley to give his one-year-old female someone to play with. Ashley was a very quiet pup and the other dog was extremely active and aggressive. The officer was desperate to find a place for her after trying to keep her from being beaten up for a week straight. We brought her home and she fit in very nicely with our group, though she was a little slow at first. She was a true water dog and loved to swim and play in the pond. Her nickname became "Ears", as she would practically fall over from enjoyment if you would rub her ear. Ashley stayed with us for four months and then went to a new home and family in Albuquerque, NM. It was a joy to foster her and we plan to repeat it in the future. We hear that she loves her new playmate, Brandi, and is adored by the 12-year-old boy she lives with.

UPDATE: Ashley has returned to our family! She had some problems with her new family (like barking and chewing) and my son Brandon wants her to become his dog. He can not keep her where he currently lives (they already have Rascal and Ashley is too tall for the complex managements absurd rules) SO Ashley is back with us. We have not had any problems with Ashley since her retun. She adores the pond, swims everyday, and loves the other dogs. Welcome Home, Ashley!
